Brief History & Registration

ITEC Engineering Ltd is a privately owned engineering consultancy, established and incorporated in 1999 in Nairobi, Kenya. The company has been involved in a wide range of projects in infrastructure, Transportation and Environmental since its inception. It is a registered company under Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) as Consulting Engineers, committed to quality delivery of its services to customers. To help achieve this, the company attained ISO 9001:2015 Certification on 24 April 2017.

The core staff of ITEC Engineering Ltd have been involved in a number of major projects both locally and internationally. The staff is well tested in engineering consultancy activities of varying nature and complexity and familiar with all civil and related engineering studies and construction.

In addition, the firm has at its disposal highly qualified and vastly experienced professional consultants that have over the years acquired consultancy experience relevant to all engineering consultancy services, particularly in the fields of infrastructure, transportation, environmental and other related services.

Eng. Tom OPIYO

Managing Director (ITEC), Consulting Engineer and Accredited Checker (EBK), Fellow Member of IEK and Member of ACEK.

Eng Opiyo is a professional Civil Engineer with over 32 years’ experience in the field of Highways and Transportation Engineering. He was a Lecturer of Transportation Engineering at the University of Nairobi for 12 years. He has experience in Management, Planning, Designing and Costing of development projects in the transport sector including preparation of policies, regional plans, development masterplans, and transport infrastructure design and construction supervision in Eastern and Southern Africa region. In particular, he has extensive experience in the areas of Transport Planning; Strategies and Policies formulation; Preparation of Transport Plans and Masterplans; Transport Infrastructure feasibility studies, Design, development and Maintenance; Public Transport Infrastructure and Services; Road Safety; and Economic analysis and appraisal of infrastructure investments for several projects for the Government of Kenya and partner funded projects; knowledge of government and development partners’ procedures and sector-wide approaches. He also has experience with the procedures and operations of international development banks. He is well versed with the FIDIC contract procedures.

The ITEC team have experience in various related aspects which include but are not limited to: Roads and Highway Engineers, Transportation Engineers, Road Safety Experts, Project Managers, Graduate Engineers and, Software and Field Technicians.
ITEC also has a large database of consultants that it calls on to provide services whose skills are not available in-house. These include: Pavement & Materials Engineers, Structural Engineers, Road Maintenance Engineers, Transport Economists, Architects, Urban Planners, Surveyors, Environmental and Social Safeguards Specialists, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialists.
