Objectives of the Project | To review and update the original detailed engineering designs as part of the review of the original detailed design To identify any gaps between the design on one hand and on the other hand the details required to satisfactorily select, engage, instruct and supervise a works contractor to construct the road to completion To conduct an economic feasibility study meeting WB and GOK standards To carry out all activities required to comply with applicable World Bank and Government of Kenya requirements and policies relating to environmental and social safeguards, including but not limited to environmental and social impact assessment and preparation of resettlement action plan To conduct a road safety audit on the road design and use the outcome to further refine the specifications to mitigate any identified issues To review and update the cost estimates for the project To prepare all documents necessary to conduct international competitive bidding for the planned road improvements using current World Bank procurement guidelines All other objectives reasonably relating to preparing high quality detailed designs and bidding documents to minimize variations during the construction. |
Description of Services | Review of any previous studies undertaken, particularly the engineering investigations, surveys and designs Identifying gaps between previous engineering design studies and the details necessary to enable a suitable works contractor to be selected, engaged, instructed and supervised to construct the road and associated features to successful completion. Conducting required field investigations, data collection (both primary and secondary) and topographical surveys necessary to address the design gaps identified in the previous paragraph Updating of the detailed design done earlier Conducting a new economic feasibility study Conducting a new environmental impact assessment and social impact assessment Preparation of a new resettlement action plan Preparation of a new road safety audit Preparation of cost estimates Preparation of new bid documents compatible with current WB procurement framework, with provisions to address issues recommended in the Environmental and Social Mitigations Plan |
