Name of Project | Traffic Data Collection Along the KeNHA Road Network – Lot 2 |
Name of Client | Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) |
Financier | Government of Kenya (GoK) |
Objectives of the Project | The project involves carrying out traffic and travel data collection on KeNHA’s road network. The outputs of the surveys include normal traffic volumes and composition along the road networks; accident data; travel time data; emissions data; axle load factors, and vehicle operating costs. |
Description of the Services | Map the trunk road network and identify appropriate/representative traffic data collection stations/locations. Collect, analyse and present baseline traffic data at the identified locations for each survey category; Establish the traffic data along the KeNHA road network through mid-block and junction leg classified traffic counts; Establish seasonal adjustment factors from which Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) can be determined; Develop a harmonized traffic dataset for the KeNHA road network; Develop procedures to transfer the traffic survey database to the GIS database, and upload the collected and analysed traffic dataset into the existing Traffic Information Database and systems in KeNHA;Review existing traffic databases and systems in KeNHA (Traffic Information Database-TID) and other existing systems that collect traffic data including weighbridges and advise the client on how the same can be developed, enhanced and integrated to enable easy upload, storage and sharing of traffic data; Develop the capacity of KeNHA staff on traffic data collection and analysis; and, Conduct training to KeNHA/Client staff on the developed data collection standards, procedures, data collection and analysis. |
